A big reason why land cruisers are so popular i've seen them everywhere in the world is because they're united nations spec they're, the un's official general purpose vehicle and in compliance they're designed to perform for 200 000 miles with minimal repair in developing countries. These things are built like legos, i once replaced the heater ac blower basket for like 15 bucks in 10 minutes with a phillips head, screwdriver seats come out with four bolts easy to get to too. I made this reset button for the blower motor breaker four years ago and still works perfectly. The philosophy behind my roadside repair kit is: it contains tools for the most part that i can hopefully unstrand myself with before triple a arrives and takes the truck to a garage for a week-long repair.
Let's see what we've got in here, small metric socket set 3 8. I like craftsman, rest in peace sears. I etched out a little nook for an extender thing. Dear lord, please deliver me from the day whence i must use this nut stripping.
Wrench on my beloved truck emergency use only olfa, stainless steel, zip ties. I've never really figured out how to use these properly plastic. Zip ties with the steel locking tongue super strong, i'm gon na throw some 11 inch zip ties in there. One of you guys sent me this six in one screwdriver, and for that i thank you.
I almost threw this one away, but the long shaft might save me one day. So i keep it. You never know i love vice grips. The 7wr is the most versatile for me and has the little clipper in the jaws craftsman wrenches.
These are the redundancies of my wrenches in the shop toolbox. I love these urethane bungees. I've probably had these for a decade they're the tool i use most often embroidery thread sewing kit can't bring myself to throwing this away from my motorcycle top box, which i've retired called deep, well sockets for my turbo plumbing this little suction cup's for the window shades. I pilfered three of these for my bicycle tool: kit.
I've replaced some of the hardware on this truck with stainless allen head bolts, another lash strap. You never know. This is from a car seat. I hate car seats, oem toyota, for something don't know why, but it's in there for some reason, silicone tape.
This is what i use for my pencil grips, but you can also seal hoses pretty well. Sometimes i forget. I have this lives in. The truck also saves me from running up and down the steps when i'm wrenching in the driveway i'm irresponsible about the spare, but we have plugs and a compressor for city style, punctures no need to jack the truck up.
Just plug and pump tom sachs gave us this beautiful tire iron, but thank god we haven't had to use it. Yet, thankfully, since getting the glow plugs and battery replaced, we haven't had any stranded by the side of the road incidents and we're really looking forward to uh getting a new engine which will make the truck even more reliable. This week on the patreon archival videos with directors commentary on my patreon right there, the link is right. There. .
Man, I feel like this series was years in the making because you were so good at cataloging shit in your life and it’s like authentic self stock footage.
Thank you for affirming my belief in always carrying a basic toolset and zip ties in any vehicle or working space I preside
I have wanted one of these for probably as long as I can remember.
I really appreciate the car videos, I’m 16 and I feel like I learn some new with every video you put out, no matter what the genre. Thank you sir!
Thank you Van, I woke up about to get ready to go off on a house renovation job. Your videos always make me feel inspired.
Van, or more accurately Isabelle, if you would be so kind as to direct my gratitude for these videos towards the spirited man. These "kit" films are epic to say the least, now when are we going to get a glimpse of the ever changing custom $400/month NYC micro-apartment that I have only briefly heard discussed on a podcast featuring the spirited man. Take care.
Awesome kit. I would not discount the adjustable wrench completely it can be used as leverage to bend brackets and sheet metal if needed. Also I’d recommend Knipex alligator pliers and their pliers wrench which is a superior adjustable.
Keep the tool vids coming my man! Also when will teach us how to make that swivel tool kit? 😬
I challenge you to buy a welder and learn how to weld this year.
Love these videos. They are simple concepts but well executed. Beautiful art, all around.
This fulfilled man is amazed with how portable and how comprehensive is Van's landcruiser tool kit. Rather than have your cherished vehicle stuck in a repair shop for a lump sum of money, tools you can get at your local hardware store are a life saver. Amazing work!
I always wanted the Series 70 Landcruiser, have to settle for a 4Runner for now though.
My father bought me the same Craftsman socket set when I was 18. Still going strong (turning 35 soon). Brings me a smile whenever I use it.
That moment when you type "youtube" into the browser and realize that the Spirited Man dropped a video just as you clicked on the "subscriptions" menu item – always a pleasure when a new video drops, quality as ever, life is good 🙂 Thank you Van for providing joy and inspiration to everyone 🙂
