ABOUT VAN NEISTAT:
A pioneer in digital filmmaking, Van Neistat made his first internet video, The Holland Tunnel, in 2000. He went on to collaborate with New York City artist Tom Sachs, directing a series of short films shown at the Guggenheim Museum in Berlin. Van has since directed dozens more films for the Tom Sachs Studio. In 2010 HBO aired The Neistat Brothers, an 8-episode series of short videos made entirely by Van and his brother Casey Neistat. Van Neistat’s directorial debut feature, A SPACE PROGRAM, co-written by Tom Sachs, premiered at the 2015 South by Southwest Film Festival and opened in theaters nation-wide in spring, 2016. In 2018 Neistat Directed the short film Paradox Bullets, co-written with Tom Sachs, narrated by Werner Herzog, and starring Ed Rushca. Neistat has written and directed commercial projects for Nike, Hurley, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, J. Crew, Twitter, Sleepy Jones and Frances Valentine. His work has been exhibited in museums throughout the world. He lives in Topanga, California.

Everytime time Van uploads a new video, I know it is going to be a good day.
i dont comment often but this video felt out of place. the goal of the video seems to solely an ad. the stated purpose seems to be only "install something without instructions" instead of a reason as to why youre installing it and doing a full video ad for this thing. the playhouse ac felt much more like it had a reason.
Why bother even connecting to the grid?
Van could make a video about watching grass grow interesting enough for me to watch.

The "Made in China" bit in the beginning did not make me happy. The world over people learned their lesson and have started to wean themselves off of Chinese trash but us Americans still refuse to learn and still keep sourcing shit from that country giving them so much power with our dollars. We will never learn….using ZOOM, and tiktok and buying chinese shit. Its an absolute shame.

Without reading instructions. Aaah something Casey would do and after installing everything he missed something and had to read the instructions 😂
What isn't shown (despite having the camera pointing in the correct direction) is whether the studio lights dipped when the A/C power from the grid was switched off and the studio switched to running on battery power. (Admittedly Van earlier described the changeover as happening "instantly".) Whilst a laptop has its own battery to buffer any small drop in external power, any use of a desktop PC / computer doesn't of-course. (Unless this situation has changed?) It would also be interesting to know how the changeover mechanism handles various types of dips in A/C power in this regard too, rather than a simple straight cut-off or restore of the A/C power.
